What is the difference between “File Erase” and deleting files normally?
#3
Hi!
Yes, there is a big difference:
  • Normal delete + Recycle Bin
    • When you delete a file and empty the Recycle Bin, Windows only marks the space as available, but the data itself can often be recovered using forensic or undelete tools.
  • File Erase / Secure Erase in GetOverX Shield
    • Overwrites the file’s data on disk with specific patterns (one or multiple passes), making it much harder or practically impossible to recover using standard tools.
    • This is especially important for sensitive documents, passwords, financial records or confidential business files.
If you are handling data that must not be recoverable, we recommend using File Erase instead of a normal delete.
