How do I safely test suspicious applications using the Sandbox?
#1
Hi,
Sometimes I receive unknown executables and I’m not sure if they’re safe. How can I use GetOverX Shield’s Sandbox to test them without putting my main system at risk?

The Sandbox module is designed exactly for this use case: running untrusted applications in an isolated environment

Basic usage:
  1. Open the Sandbox section in GetOverX Shield.
  2. Use the Load option to select and run suspicious or unknown programs inside the sandbox
  3. Monitor their behavior from the Sandbox interface.
Key idea:
  • While inside the sandbox, applications have limited interaction with the main system, which helps prevent them from making permanent changes or accessing sensitive data directly.
You can combine Sandbox usage with the Antivirus and HIPS modules for a stronger analysis:
  • Scan the file first with Antivirus,
  • Then, if you still have doubts, execute it inside the Sandbox and observe.
